Stories That Connect Us: Discover, Read, and Imagine Together

Updated: Dec 10, 2024

Saturday, 30 November12:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Lynnwood Library

Our Stories That Connect Us literary event was a heartwarming celebration of the magic of storytelling, where families from diverse backgrounds gathered to share enchanting tales in multiple languages. With stories told in Spanish, English, Korean, and Gambian, the event created a space for connection, inclusion, and cultural appreciation.

To bring the stories of cultural traditions to life, families created weavings from plastic bags, designed custom gnomes, constructed Korean fans, and joined a drumming circle. We shared meaningful discussions sparked by the book's themes, creating unforgettable moments that brought our community closer. A highlight of the day was serving 140 delicious meals, generously prepared by La Malquerida Catering Services, which added a sense of warmth and hospitality to the event.

This special gathering was made possible through our collaboration with Sno-Isle Libraries, Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation, Humanities Washington, Washington West African Center, and La Malquerida Catering Services. Together, we celebrated literacy, diversity, and the power of imagination.

What’s Next?

We’re inspired to continue fostering community connections through storytelling and creating art that help us share and celebrate our diverse cultures. Keep an eye on our website and social media for updates on future opportunities to Discover, Read, and Imagine Together.
