Since 2024, our Celebrate Neurodiversity Arts Drop In and Community Circle has become a beautiful space where families come together to connect, create, and support one another. This free program opens the doors for low-income families—especially neurodiverse, bilingual, and LGBTQ+ households—to explore art and healing in community.
During our special edition event on November 4 for Día de los Muertos, we welcomed 42 families and 108 individuals, including 78 children. The atmosphere was filled with love, laughter, creativity, and connection.
Families built altars with personal memories, decorated skulls, and created paper flowers, while nature offered inspiration along the nearby creek.
One mom shared:
“I am so happy my daughter loves crafts! Here, she has found friends, and it's wonderful that she can come with her grandparents, and they can do crafts together.”
As part of the program, we also held healing circle conversations and played bilingual games, creating space for practicing English and Spanish, sharing stories, and learning about our other offerings—like Prime Time Family Reading and support groups.
One ten-year-old, recently arrived from another country, found comfort and confidence when he met Spanish-speaking friends and practiced his English in a welcoming environment.
